Meet Our Members | November 2020
Name and Occupation: K. Kyle Saltonstall, Co-Owner and Farm Manager
Business Name: Saltonstall Farm
How long have you been a member of NOFA-NH? This is my second year as a member.
Why did you become a member of NOFA-NH? Honestly, because of the discount on the conferences. I LOVE CONFERENCES. I learned more at the last winter conference than I have in several years of college.
How has NOFA-NH impacted your business? I’m basing some of our real-world business plans on some awesome things I’ve learned from some of NOFA’s gray-haired folk. There’s quite a bit of collective knowledge in the NOFA community.
What’s your number one priority for NOFA-NH this year? I’d love it if someone could hold a quick down and dirty grant-writing course at one of the conferences. I’d love to know how to get SARE or NRCS dollars to offset the cost of some of our more capital intensive plans.
How could NOFA-NH better help your business grow? I’m really excited for the Bulk Order. I spent way too much last year ordering all of my feather meal and blood meal, and most of that was on shipping. If I can get that number a little lower, I’ll be pretty happy!

What advice do you have for anyone thinking about becoming a NOFA-NH member? Do IT!! The conferences alone make it worth your time, and the savings on bulk ordering are a sweet little bonus. If you’re new to gardening, farming, or to doing either of those things using organic practices, this community has a whole lot of knowledge to share.

Does your business have any upcoming activities or events you would like to share with the NOFA-NH community? Alas, COVID… no. We planned to start an annual Salty Square Dance and Pig Roast this past July but we, like the rest of the world, had to put fun on hold for a little while. We fully intend to celebrate life and joy with as many people as we can pack into our old barn just as soon as this pandemic passes. Stay tuned to our Instagram for an invite!
