Two Mountain Farm Field Day

Topic: Installing and Using a Water Catchment System
Two Mountain Farm, located on 52 acres of cropland, pasture, and forest in Andover, NH, is a diversified farm managed organically. Since 2020, farmers Anthony Munene and Andrea Bye have been stewarding the land after purchasing the property and taking over farm operations. In 2024, they were awarded a Farmer Resilience Grant from NOFA-NH to enhance their climate resilience. With the funding, they are installing a rainwater catchment system paired with a solar-powered pump on two of their 21' x 96' high tunnels; an effort aimed at managing both drought and excessive rainfall more effectively. Come to see the completed system in action and learn how you can design and install a similar setup on your own farm.

The UNH Extension Beginning Farmer Program is designed for beginning farmers (anyone who has owned or operated a farm business for the past 10 years or less) with the intent to make a profit in New Hampshire. While this program is tailored to beginning farmers, it is free of cost and open to anyone that wants to participate. This program will be offering a variety of hands-on farm demos, in-person workshops, and online webinars to help beginning farmers gain the skills and information they need to ensure farm viability. Topics covered will include emergency preparedness, soil health, IPM, food safety, record-keeping, marketing strategies, weather mitigation, reducing animal/ crop loss and more.
