Nubi River Farm Field Day
Location: Peterborough, NH
Topic: Community Infrastructure and an Alternative Farming Model
Nubi River Farm, run by Elsbeth Pendleton-Wheeler and Jasen Woodworth, has operated for the past five years within the Nubanusit Neighborhood and Farm Cohousing Community. Using a model based on leasing land and sharing infrastructure—like tractors, hoop houses, barns, and tools—they’ve grown vegetables intensively, run a farm store and CSA, and collaborated with neighbors on everything from animal rotations to equipment use. As they prepare to transition from this land, Elsbeth and Jasen are eager to share what they’ve learned about launching a farm within a shared community setting—offering practical insights into the benefits and challenges of farming with limited land ownership but strong community connections.
