Weathering Change: Cover Cropping for New Farmers
Meadowstone Farm 809 Brook Road Bethlehem, NH 03574
In partnership with UNH Cooperative Extension, NOFA-NH will be co-hosting this demonstration day for the Windham County Conservation District’s Connecticut River Watershed Planning Project.
Are you curious about cover crops? In this workshop we will see how Meadowstone Farm incorporates cover crops into their high tunnels and fields - from planning to planting. We will highlight how cover crops can be used as a method to manage soil fertility and lessen the impacts of extreme weather on the farm, like drought and flooding. We will also hear from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) about financial incentive programs you can utilize to start incorporating cover crops on your farm.
This workshop is geared towards beginning farmers but is open to anyone who is interested.
FREE 50-LB COVER CROP SEED* AND A $50 STIPEND OFFERED TO PARTICIPANTS WHO REGISTER!
*Cover crop seed will be provided in the late summer/early fall.
This work is supported by the Beginning Farmer Rancher Development Program project award no.2024-49400-43622 from the US Dept. Of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture and partially funded through the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s Long Island Sound Future Fund.
