Taxes for Beginning Farmers Webinar

Why is it that filing our taxes always feels so, well, taxing? Completing your taxes doesn’t have to be so hard! Join us for a one-hour, lunchtime informative session where Kelly McAdam and Mike Sciabarrasi of UNH Extension will cover the basics of what you need to know for filing your taxes this year as a new farmer. We will also highlight parts of the One Big Beautiful Bill, which passed last year, and how it will impact your taxes.

In this webinar, we will cover:

  • How the IRS defines a farm

  • When should you report farm income

  • Step-by-step how to file a Schedule F

  • Instances in which you will send or receive a 1099

  • Record-keeping practices to make filing your taxes simple

  • How the One Big Beautiful Bill can change your taxes this year

This work is supported by the Beginner Farmer Rancher Development Program, project award no.2024-49400-43622, from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
