Topic: Making It Work With Dairy and Beef Cows
Wednesday, September 11th, 4-6PM
Partners: Granite State Graziers
Brandmoore Farm was established in 2012 and is a diversified family run dairy, meat and vegetable farm. In this workshop farmers Becky and Phil will share what has worked and not worked with dairy and beef cows over the past 12 years. They will share what they do now, what they tried in the past and what they hope to do going forward. Information on herd management, family/lifestyle considerations of keeping cows and discussion/viewing of our newly renovated dairy facility, animals housing and river/pasture walk will be included in the program.
Brandmoore Farm is a diversified farm in the town of Rollinsford, NH, started by Philip and Rebecca Brand. Located along the Salmon Falls River, which marks part of the border between New Hampshire and Maine, they manage 400 acres of rolling pasture, meadows, hay fields, and woodlands. They raise cows, pigs, chickens, and grow 2 acres of organic vegetables. Becky and Phil both attended UNH, and worked on several farms before starting their own operation. They have three children.
Granite State Graziers
Granite State Graziers works to create an environment in New Hampshire that is both welcoming to beginning farmers and homesteaders and supportive of experienced graziers. We work to make the state a place where knowledge is transferred freely among graziers. We strive to support competent, knowledgeable grass farmers who demonstrate the environmental, social, human and animal health benefits of pasture based production systems to their peers and the general public. We work to develop a system of agriculture that is both financially and environmentally sustainable for all.
