New Hampshire Food and Agriculture Strategic Plan

At NOFA-NH, we believe in the power of collaboration to drive meaningful change. That’s why we’re proud to have played a role in the development of the New Hampshire Food and Agriculture Strategic Plan; a bold, actionable roadmap created to support the viability of our farm, fish, and food businesses while centering equity across the entire food system.

This plan isn’t just a document; it’s a dynamic tool designed to streamline our collective efforts—whether that’s securing funding, influencing policy, building infrastructure, or strengthening networks. It gives all of us farmers, nonprofit leaders, policy advocates, and community members a shared framework and direction.

The Strategic Plan includes over 140 recommendations across 27 key food and agriculture topics, organized into product, market, and issue briefs. Each recommendation offers a specific action step—like funding opportunities, program expansion ideas, or technical assistance proposals—and identifies which stakeholders are best positioned to take the lead. The structure ensures that these ideas don’t just sit on paper, but reach the right people, at the right time, to drive real, positive change.

At the core of the plan is a powerful goal: to increase the viability of New Hampshire’s food businesses and promote equity across our food system. Every brief, every recommendation, and every outcome is mapped against this shared vision. And thanks to the coordinated effort of the NH Food Alliance, the NH Department of Agriculture, Markets, and Food, UNH Extension, and more than 89 organizations (including us at NOFA-NH) this plan reflects the voices and priorities of hundreds of individuals deeply invested in the future of food in our state.

We’re honored to be part of this transformative effort and excited to help turn this vision into reality. We invite our members and community to read the Strategic Plan, find where your work fits in, and join us in building a more resilient, sustainable, and just food system for New Hampshire.
