Insight from a NH Mentor: "We had lunch together and talked about our relationship for the coming year. This seems to be a perfect match."

Insight from NH Mentee: “Our mentor came to our property and we spoke about the certification process. He shared the records that he showed for his inspection and I showed him our record keeping system. He encouraged us that we have what we need in place for organic certification this year.”

Insight from NH Mentor:

"I did a visit of his [Mentee] fields as well and was able to understand his vision for the farm. It is inspiring to see folks in their 30's understanding the value of following organic production methods to supply healthy nutritious food to our surrounding community. After our field visit we sat down at a computer to go over record keeping methods and crop planning. Particularly how to incorporate organic methods within the crop plan."

  • Join us for November's Farmer Roundtable.

This month’s topic is Directories and Online Platforms. We will talk with organizations in the state to learn about their directories and how they can benefit farmers and the community. We can discuss Market access from the farmer's view and how organizations and farmers can work together to improve local food access for all.

We will also discuss online platforms for both retail and wholesale.

  • Join us for December's topic of Brick & Mortar stores, where local & organic food is highlighted. We will talk with businesses to learn how farmers can connect with them and explore what they are looking for in local products.

  • Join us as we kick off the year with a look at food aggregators, food hubs, and distributors. We will discuss who they are, where they are, and learn how farmers can connect with them.

  • Join us on Tuesday, the 17th, to talk with Chefs from around the state and hear from them directly. Learn how to approach chefs and how to present your products. Learn what is necessary for a restaurant to purchase your products.

  • Join us as we hear about how facilities in NH use local food, such as schools and hospitals. We will discuss how we can come together to work out the needs of both the institution and the farmer so that more local food can be accessed throughout NH.

  • Join us to bring it all together. Looking at the current market access discussed in this series, let's consider a needs assessment so that everyone can access local food in NH. Farmers, bearing in mind all we have heard during this series, how can market access be expanded in a way that allows farmers to accommodate more local foods in the marketplace? Proprietors, how can farmers better meet your need for local food?

All Roundtables are on the third Tuesday of each month from 6:30 - 7:30.

This free, market access series will run monthly through April 2026 and will discuss the many layers of market access through a farmer lens. There is information to share with farmers and from farmers.

Bring your thoughts to share!

The Roundtable is funded by the Transition to Organic Partnership Program and hosted by NOFA-NH.
