Adopt-an-Organic Field

Land Care Tour and Potluck

(this tour is free)

Sawyer Park

Kensington, NH

Learn how building healthy soil can eliminate the need for toxic chemical weed killers and synthetic fertilizers to grow grass in lawn spaces.  Sawyer Park became a model for natural organic turf/lawn care when Mike Motherway started the Adopt an Organic Field project to address the challenge of the park’s compacted turf, which could no longer be overlooked.  This 8.5 acre park is heavily used by the community for sports and town events. Homeowners, land care professionals, town planners and anyone interested in reducing or eliminating the use of lawn pesticides can benefit from attending this tour. Learn more at http://adoptanorganicfield.com

Topics covered include soil aeration, natural fertilizer and compost application, proper mowing techniques, and the least toxic controls for pests and weeds.  The tour will be led by Chip Osborne, founder and President of  Osborne Organics (focused on athletic fields), Javier Gil, a NOFA Accredited Organic Land Care Professional (focused on residential spaces) and Mike Motherway,

There is ample parking; bathrooms are available.
